Getting started with web design

Adobe® Photoshop is an image editor with the capacity for incorporating vector paths. Exporting an image and it's clipping path from Photoshop involves first saving the path in Photoshop, then exporting the image as an EPS file (the EPS format is the only format where the clipping path can be exported).

The most common use for this procedure is to allow a user to remove a background of an image and place it into a program such as Quark or Indesign where it can be placed on a colour background and the colour will show through.

Other uses for paths include selecting sections of an image. Simply create the path then convert the path to a selection. This way is far more accurate than trying to mask an area through other methods. Using the path option allows far more accuracy in editing.
